Beyond Layers Day 82-A Quote Challenge
"A Quote Challenge" for my Beyond Layers class. This is a quote I found on Pinterest last night. This photo taken by Kim Klassen seemed like a good place to use it. Processed with kk cinnamon texture, RadLab Butter Rum and the font is Bradley Hand ITC. The quote is: "The cure for anything is salt water, sweat, tears or the sea" by Karen von Blixen-Finecke. Isn't that the truth? There is just something so mysterious and soothing about just sitting on the sun warmed sand watching the vastness of the water and listening to the sounds of the waves and the birds..........

My Journey-Kim Klassen Beyond Layers Day 69
I did have plans to add some textures to this, but decided that I was doing OK just to actually get it posted. Now I need to get dressed and make supper-literally in that order-I've been fiddling on the computer all day and DH will be home soon:) this was his first day back to work after a lengthy illness and it's been very relaxing to just sit at my computer and play-and he's been having a good day at work, too!
I should also add that I've had Light Room since version 1 but have never really used it very much....hopefully that will change now with Kim's LR class!

The regularly scheduled programming has been interrupted....
Just a disclaimer....I'm working on putting my Flickr photostream on my blog and have been somewhat successful. However, none of the photos in the slideshow are mine-don't know whose they are, and hopefully sometime tomorrow they will be replaced with my own photos....guess I'll have to read the instructions :)
ETA: I've been working on this problem for 2 hrs now, will give it a fresh look later. For the time being, to whoever the photos in the Photostream belong to: they're really great....and thanks!

Texture Tuesday..and a bit more
Tomorrow is Texture Tuesday at Kim Klassen's Cafe. I'm off work today and this is my first contribution to Texture Tuesday so thought I would go ahead and try to get this posted while I have some extra time. This week's theme is the color orange.
This is my buddy Mr Hibiscus who has been with me since 1998 or so. He usually tends to look a little scraggly and is by all accounts fairly neglected. Even through all the abuse, he still blooms for me several times a year and I was lucky enough to have some of his fabulously orange blossoms this week.
Mr Hibiscus was cropped and then I used (kind of) Kim's Beyond Layers tutorial "Sweet Adjustments" (day 68) to edit the photo. I then added a few of Kim's textures-Edges, Paper Stained and Pumpkin Grunge to the mix and tweaked them all a bit until I ended up with this version of Mr Hibiscus. It was a lot of fun and I enjoyed using some Photoshop skills that had gotten a bit rusty.
Thanks for the inspiration, Kim!
Let's see if I can get this posted :)
I forgot to add that the font I used is Pharmacy-one of my all time favorites :)

5 Fact Friday
Here we go-if I wait until I get my blog fixed up the way I want it, I will never get anything posted, so here goes:)
1. I'm a terrible, chronic procrastinator. In fact, I think I procrastinate procrastinating...
1. I'm a terrible, chronic procrastinator. In fact, I think I procrastinate procrastinating...
2. I feed the squirrels as much as I feed the birds....on purpose.
3. I have frogs that live in the pond by my front door, and I consider them to be my "pets".
4. I should have the saying "Perfectionism does not lead to perfection (unknown)" tattooed onto my forehead. I tend to be unsatisfied with the results of many-OK, most- projects "because they aren't quite perfect". I think I read somewhere that some quilters often purposely make a "mistake" when they create a quilt because no one on earth ever really obtains perfection (don't know if that's true or not, but I like it)
5. I hate TV......most of the time:)
Maybe next week I can make this a bit fancier-for now lets see if I can master the "linky thingy".

Dipping my toe into the great blog pool.....
I've wanted to create a blog for a very long time. I always have some excuse...I'm too busy, don't have anything worthwhile to share, whatever.
those things will likely never change, so I just need to get started. So here I am, my first blog post, just to see what it looks like :)
